What age of patients do you treat?

Adults 18 years and older.

What are your clinical specialties?

I am a licensed psychiatrist with the ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions. My main clinical focus is in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders. I am a member of the International OCD Foundation. I also have experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and personality disorders.

What is your educational background?

I earned an MD and PhD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I also have a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Vassar College and completed a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

What additional training have you undertaken?

My residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital included extensive education, training, and direct supervision across various practice settings. During my final year, I served as a chief resident. Additionally, I was a recipient of the Outstanding Resident Award Program, a program at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) designed to train physician-scientist leaders in psychiatry.

How does your research background inform your psychiatry practice?

My doctoral studies in neuroscience, statistics, and genomics have helps me to understand the complex scientific literature relating to evidence-based psychiatry. This helps me to consider the pros and cons of current treatment methods and provide clear explanations of scientific data for shared decision-making.

Are there any conditions that you do not treat?

Due to the limited size of my practice, I am unable to provide treatment for people living with severe psychotic disorders, significant substance use disorders, acute eating disorders, major neurocognitive disorders, or frequent psychiatric emergencies. This is because my practice does not have the necessary resources to manage urgent psychiatric conditions or provide around-the-clock treatment. Individuals with these needs are better served by a mental health clinic or a large healthcare system.

Am I a good fit for your practice?

Please contact me via email at hello@mckenziepsych.com for a free 15 minute phone conversation to discuss your individual needs and concerns. After our phone conversation, we can schedule our initial consultation. Based on the consultation, I will create a personalized treatment plan and schedule follow-up visits if we agree that my practice is the best fit for you. If not, I will provide referrals to other sources where you may be able to find someone who can help.

Where are you located?

My office is located in Salem, Oregon. Currently, I am exclusively seeing patients via telemedicine.

What are your office hours?

My current office hours are during the evenings (Pacific Time) on Monday through Thursday and during the afternoon on Saturdays.

Where do I need to be located to receive telemedicine services?

Telemedicine services are provided in compliance with Oregon state regulations. You must be physically located in Oregon during our appointments for me to provide services.

What are my rights regarding surprise medical costs?

If you don’t have insurance, or choose not to use your insurance for my services, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges before your appointment, in accordance with the No Surprises Act. I will provide this estimate in writing when you schedule services or whenever you ask about costs. This is only an estimate — actual charges may differ. If your final bill is substantially higher than your estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge. For more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
